As an architect with personal home remodel, I have experience working with contractors in the past who lived up to some common stereotypes: shoddy work, hidden costs, unwillingness to listen, and ignoring the schedule after being hired. Anyone who has renovated a home knows that contractors are notorious for disappearing for days on end and getting calls returned can be a challenge.
When my partner & I purchased an older but quaint home, I dreaded the process of interviewing contractors for this latest renovation, but when I first met Sam it was apparent that I had found an exceptional contractor. I quickly learned that we spoke the same language and he has a passion for detail & design. Sam worked closely with me to evaluate my design drawings and develop a cost effective, comprehensive estimate. He patiently presented cost control options to retain - and even enhance - my design intent, while remaining sensitive to the architectural aesthetic of the home.

The basement was converted into a living area with two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and 2 closets. A smaller third bedroom was converted into an entire closet area. The kitchen on our main floor was remodeled as well (granite countertops, new cabinets, hardwood floors, sink, electrical, painting). And we Just recently converted our deck into a beautiful porch with a fireplace. The work was excellent! The price was very reasonable, and the work was finished on time.
Everyone that worked on the project was professional and responsible. Every phase of the project was handled in a very organized and professional manner; we were constantly given options and encouraged to give input. As Sam would always say, "This is your home and you will be here for a long time, your opinion is what's most important" We will recommend Sequoia Design to others and would do business with them again!
